Whadi's Docks District
Description
The Docks district is a section of the city that is rough around the edges. Buildings are old and generally not well maintained, the alleys are dark and dirty and the air is dank and smelly. Aside the "fish market" who's frequented buy customers and travelers alike, the area is generally unsafe and has high criminality rate. It has a lot of cheap inns, with cheap ale, cheap moldy beds and cheap unsavory company. The only area deemed safer is the "Grand Alley" which links the main docks to the Wheat Square. It is patrolled by guards which allows travelers to safely commute to the rest of the city.
It is the most lively district of the entire city since it is animated by workers busy day and night to load and unload cargo or looking to join a new crew in the hopes of finding better pay. You can find any type of unusual merchandise especially the illegal kind if you know who to talk to. It is even rumored the place is run by The Torture Chamber and have to pay them a docking 'insurance' fee in case of mishaps. Warehouses are also controlled by small individual groups. They dont charge a tax to store the good but they charge a tax when the merchants come pickup the goods. Those organisations also have small militias to protect stocks from theives and other factions.
History
This is the oldest district of the city. It used to be the entire city when the settlement was meerely a resupply point more convenient than to docking at Salt-Town and when business called for discretion.
