Arantor

City of Heaven of Fana-Li, located southeast of the Bay of Ghosts in north-central Norstir. Bordering both the Shining Sands and the rivers that flow into the Bay of Ghosts, Arantor is an important haven for travelers and trade in northern Norstir as a last city of call before reaching more dangerous lands. The city is well-fortified around a central keep and buildings are made from the most durable materials to ensure the chaos of the outside world doesn't get past the walls.

Defences

The city itself has massive walls and streets designed with choke points for attackers and few side streets to ensure foot traffic stays visible to the guards, all radiating out from the central fortress. Fortified caravansaries extend away from the gates on frequent travel routes, roughly one every twenty miles. Arantori citizens grow crops and tend livestock in these sheltered stations, both for travelers and to keep stocks in the city high. Forts near the rivers to the northwest tend to small ports that are some of the few safe ways to embark ships onto the Bay of Ghosts.

Industry & Trade

Surrounded by hostile borderlands and surviving off of trade, citizens usually make a living as keen-eyed merchants, experienced wayfinders, skilled craft workers, or vigilant guards-for-hire.
