Armea

Created by

Armea was once the home of the gods, who dwelt in the massive, spanning continent of Norstir before recorded time. With the Shattering of the Tower of Katib, the gods were severed from the mortal plane, and mortals began to spread out across the known lands, and emigrate to new ones.
Although there are many continents in the world of Armea, most people come from one of two - the Kingdom of Eregoth, and the Republic of Keldan. Separated by a channel merely twenty miles wide, both countries are over a thousand years old with long and storied pasts full of magic.
Long ago, the people of both countries fled west from a mighty and ancient land called Norstir. Eregoth was founded first, as the refugees from Norstir settled in a land already ruled by merciless, depraved serpentfolk who enslaved them for many generations. This all changed when their plight was discovered by Tarnok Zan-Katir, an ancient gold dragon many dozens of miles long whose breath was mighty enough to scour the decadent cities of the Yuan-ti and drive them deep underground. The World Dragon, as wyrms of its size came to be known, entered into pacts with the mightiest mortals to throw off the yoke the serpents and found their own kingdom. Eregoth has been ruled by the King of the bloodline of the dragon - House Cervantes - from the city of Torellon ever since.
Keldan's people were originally Eregothi themselves, but fled south into the seas as their disdain for monarchy and affinity for arcane magic made them a threat to the chivalrous nobility. There they found but a single island capped with a mountain of pure dawnstone - earth infused with the power of the gods - and winding around it an ancient green world dragon nearly as large and powerful as Tarnok. This dragon came to be known as Voarex Zarnur, and it was he who crafted the archipelago of Keldan with his own magic by raising the very islands from the sea and gifting them to these refugees. Until very recently, the archipelago of Keldan was ruled by the Eldritch Council of Warlocks, but in recent weeks the people have risen up and reclaimed their power in the form of a House of Representatives based out of Sanctoris, their capital city.
Although the world dragons are long gone, these two countries have been at war with each other for most of their existence. It is only recently that changes in the world have forced the people of both lands to work together, usually to deal with a common enemy. Whether it be the powerful guilds of Norstir seeking to capture the fertile lands of both nations and re-establish dominance; dark forces beneath the earth and in the depths of the seas; horrors beyond time, space, and reason; or any number of other threats... only time will tell if the people of Eregoth and Keldan can continue to put aside their differences to preserve their past, present, and future.
