Olwen's Pass

A pass running north from Revelback between Miller's Range to the west and the Spada to the east. Olwen's Pass has held many names. For much of recent history it was called Cullach's Pass, in honor of Cullach Odon, a hero of the Third Brothers Rebellion, called the Twins War. Cullach held the pass against King Dorreon III himself for seven nights.   The Pass was briefly named after Ruark Redeye, who fought against Clan Odon after they kidnapped Ghiselda Glast, his brother's betrothed. After Ruark's treachery and abdication at the end of the Fourth Brothers Rebellion, the name reverted to Cullach for a time before bearing its current title.   Before all this, it was called Luut's Pass for many years, a reference to a minor Deinain, a half-human king with a silver hand who defended the eastern shores from Hadrashi armies. He is claimed as an ancestor by Clan Odon, Clan Maan, Clan Slabh, and even Clan Luutar (despite their not having come to the Promontory until Garland's Conquest).   The region was supposedly called Olwen's Pass in ancientry as well, a reference to a legendary princess who brought fertility to the Ithir Plains, causing flowers and foison to sprout wherever she danced. The Wolf of Night chased after her, causing her to leap from the Spada to Miller's Range to Bianna Daern before fleeing into the Sea, thus overlooking the pass itself. Of course, the pass' lack of fertility is more likely due to the many armies that have marched through it, fought in it, and died there.
