Arisir

The Arisir are a small, close-nit group of tribal peoples living in the Arisad Wetlands in Viis Zoroth. Outsiders often assume they have some link to the ancient Chuerebese who lived nearby on the opposite side of the River Shauron, but the Arisir themselves make no such claim. They are relatively short and stocky compared to other Viisianari peoples, and claim to control the waters with their magic, something no outsider has observed.   According to their own legends, there were once twenty-three Arisir tribes that lived in the wetlands. This is either an exaggeration, or once upon a time the wetlands were far more expansive than they are today. Only one tribe survives today, fittingly called the Arisir. Many of their myths speak of great battles both between tribes and against outside invaders, though today they are a decidedly peaceful people.   The Arisir appear to have once had a written language. Called the Dead Magic, it is still used today in ceremony, but they otherwise rely solely on spoken word and illustration for communication and records. They have some trade with the Viisi pilgrims that pass through, and have surprisingly active trade with Esharion, providing crops that can only grow in the wetlands.
