Emerging principally in the Tutonia Fields, with many migrating to the Elupejasia Steppe, the Ambai descended from many of the western Amai after Tutonia became stabilized. As Orckid influence diminished in Viis Zoroth, the Ambai spread and migrated throughout rural areas of the queendom.
The Ambai generally see themselves as a compromise between the imperialist Nariai of modern Viis Zoroth and the nomadic, stateless Viisi that live along the coasts. Though some Ambai can be found in larger settlements and do sometimes travel nomadically, they are more often found in rural settlements in Viis Zoroth. Many Ambai Amai chafe at Zorothi regulations and dream of simpler, more pastoral lives, though most are aware that they are currently dependent on Nariai militarism to protect their rural areas. Some move into cities in the hopes of changing Nariai policies, and some move into Viisi territories in hopes of connecting to ancient Viisianari beliefs.
