Dawnshield
The shining jewel of the kingdom, Dawnshield is the capital and seat of the Gaillard family. Owyne Gaillard rules from the opulent Dawnhold Fortress, situated in the northeast of the city. Outside the castle lies a wide, walled city. The main roads into Dawnshield all converge at Jubilee Plaza, which backs onto the grand Temple of Sirona , and features a larger than life statue of the king taking pride of place before the cathedral.
Over time, the population has overgrown the confines of the towering city walls. In the surrounding lands, concentrated around the city gates, shacks and ramshackle businesses have been constructed. These shanty towns stretch out along the roads leading in and out of the city. This growing population is putting ever more pressure on the city watch, and the influx of survivors from Shademoor has exacerbated this to the point that adventurers and mercanaries are being hired to deal with matters outside the city, such as investigating Shademoor.
Demographics
Humans make up the majority of the population in Dawnshield, though many elves and dwarves can be found making their homes here. Individuals and small communites can be found of most races as well, from gnomes and halflings to tieflings.
Industry & Trade
As the capital of Avalyra, Dawnshield is a hub of trade and mercantilism. Almost anything you might want can be found in Dawnshield, among the various merchant and craftsman districts.
Guilds and Factions
Dawnshield is home to many guilds and other factions, most of which are situated around Guidhall Square in the west of the city. Everyone from fighters and mages, through merchants of all kinds, to calligraphers and cartogrophers can find a group of like minded and similarly skilled indivuduals around the square.
The Black Wing mercenary company have their headquarters along the main road into the city, opposite Artisans' Ward. Ironbound Arena, the largest arena in Avalyra, attracts fighters and tourists from across the kingdom. The famously powerful wizards of The Emerald Enclave can be found holed up in the Emerald Pillar outside Dawnhold Fortress. It is an open, unkept secret that a guild of thieves and other criminals operate out of warehouses in the Old Docks.
