Lightreach

On the far eastern coast of Avalyra lies the city of Lightreach. The seat of power for the largest religious order in the kingdom, the Church of Harmony, the population of the city is by and large very religious.

Demographics

Lightreach, like much of Avalyra, is populated by a majority of humans, though plenty of elves and dwarves also make their home in the city. Individuals and small communities of many races can also be found. However, unlike the rest of the kingdom, no tieflings are found here, having been driven out or imprisoned by the Church of Harmony. Also, a larger than usual population of aasimar is found in Lightreach, due to the church providing generous opportunities for them.

Government

The city is run by Hamund Lovell, the ruling viscount since 772. He rules from an opulent mansion, donated to the mayor many decades ago by a mysterious benefactor. However, it is an open secret in Lightreach that this benefactor is the Church of Harmony. For as long as anyone can remember, the mayor of the city has lived in luxury, provided for them by the church. In return, they are merely a puppet, controlled by the whims of the religious group. This is as true for Lovell as it has been for centuries, he is subject to the control of the current Harmonian bishop, Reynaud Nel.
