Ironbound Arena

Ironbound arena, situated in the capital city of Dawnshield, is the largest and most popular arena in Avalyra. Travellers come from across the kingdom, and some even from beyond, just to attend and watch the games, particularly on the yearly Ironbound Games, held each year over the first week of Indea, marking the beginning of winter.

Purpose / Function

Ironbound Arena is currently owned and run by Vern Faustin, who inherited the role from his mother in 781. Since he took over, the arena has become more tightly scheduled, with up to four fights per day, every day of the week; one in the morning and three spread out over the afternoon. As the fights are open to any and all challengers, many days are fully booked, though newcomers are always welcomed, and Vern always aims to get them out onto the sands as quick as possible.

History

The current champion of Ironbound Arena is Ulfirr Listoff, a captive Tocurian soldier forced to fight in the arena when he was captured over a decade ago. Other fighters are numerous, with dozens of individuals being known names amongst the fans. Some of these current long term gladiators include Alice Everard, Finn Goldwood, The Judicator, Liara Venleth, Percy Myers, The Red Fury, Rummuk the Orc, and The Rusted Knight. Some individuals partake in a single fight, or a handful, before moving on, such as Irina Gylcrest and Zelfira Faeris, the only two individuals to have bested the champion.
