This is a portal for the legends and historical events surrounding the Larix dynasty. A prominent Belanos family with roots in both Ghealas and Rhudd, the house of Larix emerged in the 7th Century CE.
Origins
The most commonly named progenitor in texts is Old Nick, sometimes written as Ald Nic, Niklaus, rarer Kola or Kolya (his nickname by Sheena). Many prominent Belenakos military leaders like to their lineage back to him or his son Kalfr. Matilda of Hol Gheal was Old Nick's spouse and mother of his children. Records on the matriarch are sparse.History
Historical Events involving or occurring during the Larix dynasty:History
Following the death of Matilda, her husband Old Nick would go on to seize more territory west in an area which would become known as The Naefergrene.
Herleva was the first queen to rule the Queendom of Gheal Valley, and the founder. Her reign was marked by struggles with the Dolomedes , which her husband Oswin had helped her unite.
After disinheriting her three children, Oswin was coerced into abdicating. Her brother Kalfr ’s daughter Sarhilde became the second Queen of Ghealas.
In 795, during Queen Ositha ’s rule, there was a major disaster when anthrax-tainted soil was sold to Hol Gheal. The resulting outbreak caused instability beween the Earlen Harlow and her largely Dolomedes population. Shortly thereafter in mid 796, a levee broke and flooded the low-lying village. After a power struggle resulting in her death, Harlow’s daughter Sigrid was next in line, but was not fit to rule. Her daughter with Dolomedes Chieftain Oswald , Herleva II became Earlen of Hol Gheal.
