Hol Gheal
Hol Gheal is a town in the East Midlands of Albanos, and is part of the Queendom of Gheal Valley. Many believe the town is cursed as misfortune seems to befall anyone who rules it, but this can be explained by a lot of terrible decision making as well. It is mainly a farming/agriculture town and attracts tourists from the North who like the milder weather and diverse wildlife.
Hol Gheal, which translates to "hollow jaw" in Belenake, was named after the many goddess shrines in the area. Arakhne tribes such as the Dolomedes refer to the general area as Khelegiftu ('Kelekeras gift').
Demographics
The three main ethnic groups living in Hol Gheal are Belanos, Dolomedes, and Phoneutriae. The Belanos make up ~40% of the population, the Dolomedes 50%, with mixed ethnicity (referred to colloquially as the Belhken) and Phoneutriae making up the remaining 10%.
With Double Walkers being strictly outlawed from entering Hol Gheal, the species demographic among species is 99.9% human with the odd Gwraig making their way along the path to the sea. This is rare however, as Dolomedes will hunt Gwragedd down upon sight.
Serfs and farmers involved with agriculture and animal husbandry make up about 60% of the population. 20% of the population are Clockmakers or other magi, through the latter are quite rare. The remaining 15% are merchants or tradespeople, with the final 5% making up the ruling class.
The most common profession for trade are alchemists and chemists, followed by smithing.
Government
As most Queendoms in Albanos, the land which comprises Hol Gheal are ruled by an Earlen and her family. The Earlen answers only to the Queen, and has administrative and legal rights.
Gheal Valley has a large population of Clockmakers , who are often involved in the administration of assets and law, working with the Earlen to ensure peaceful acquisition of tax and tithes. Hol Gheal follows Clockmaker laws, with the Guild of Justice and Guild of Faith responsible for enforcing them.
