Zenris
Zenris is the unofficial capital of the Kasesh Desert, and the second largest city of the original lands of the Nicaean Empire behind the Imperial capital, Edralas.
Zenris is also the trade hub of the east, with paths to all of the major cities in the Desert, and also the first major hub for airship travel.
Demographics
Government
Zenris is overseen by an Imperial Regional Governor, and the only one that holds any real power in their Seat. Currently that post is held by Governor Girard Hennion. The Imperial politicians are housed in the Governor's Seat, next to the Imperial barracks and storehouse.
Defences
Due to a priority for ease of travel and its relative isolation, Zenris is the largest city in Nicaea to not have a surrounding wall. There are guard posts at the major roads in and out of the city, but these are more for monitoring cargo entering and exiting the city than as defensive positions.
The strength in Zenris is in its mobility. A large detachment from the Army of Nicaea (about 1000 soldiers), combined with the Justicars from the Bank of Abadar, means that the only city with more native soldiers is the capital.
Industry & Trade
Zenris is not well situated to create any of its own raw goods (other than enough food to sustain most of its population), but does have artisans and manufacturers that create finished goods from outside shipments.
It is, however, well situated to be a center of trade. Zenris charges small import/export fees on any caravan travelling through its borders which, given the nature of the roads in the east, is nearly every shipment through the Desert.
The heart of Zenris is the Thrindrongol Market, situated in the western half of the city, and home to all manner of shops and smiths.
Infrastructure
Six bridges have been built across the Harenos River to allow for easier travel. With the rise of airships, large docks have been built on the eastern edge of the city.
The city is roughly divided into the finer houses in the northeast, the poorer houses in the southwest, and the middle class and warehouses in the southeast.
Assets
Notable civilian locations in Zenris include: the Kurgess Arena, the Garen's Well and Champion's Rest taverns, the Bitter Bowman Inn, and Philana's magic item shop.
Guilds and Factions
The oldest group to call Zenris their home is the Hunter's Guild, which has been there nearly since the first settlers. The Bank of Abadar also holds a large presence in the city, with the headquarters of their church in the High Bank.
Geography
The city is located on the Harenos River, which feeds the city with enough water for survival and irrigation. The area outside the city is rolling sand dunes, isolated from the rockier sections of the Desert to the west, east, and northeast.
