Kasaline

Kasaline is a largely flat city on the southern side of Lake Vistonida in the Kasesh Desert, where the water from the Harenos River finally rests. Being farther away from the capital and less popular with any military order, Kasaline’s main defence is a wall that surrounds most of the city. The mud bricks are lined with parapets, and guard towers dot the skyline keeping eye on the desert.   The main entrance through the wall is on the western edge of the city: the Caravanserai, with its popular tavern, the Raspy Camel.

Demographics

Kasaline is similar in makeup to the other cities of the Kaseshi Desert -- Humans, Catfolk, Ratfolk, and Halflings are all common. What makes Kasaline unique is its high population of Naiads, a water-dependent race of Fey creatures.

Infrastructure

The influence of the lake and the Naiads have turned the lakeside district of the city into an artist's paradise, known as the Amphora. Spaces are left open to get more cool air off the lake, as well as more customers and onlookers from the busy streets. The people here also wear lighter fabrics to enjoy the breeze -- its distance from the outside of town means the people are less armored and less prepared for a desert voyage.   This is also the location of the largest temple to Shelyn: the House of the Eternal Rose.

Natural Resources

Lake Vistonida gives Kasaline a rich fishing industry, as well as both materials and food from hydro-farming. The water also led to the development of early building materials, and Kasaline has some of the oldest remaining buildings in the desert.
