Kadríans

Kadríans are descendants of Góalanics within the eastern Sikíron Empire, most notably the city of Kadría. While most have adopted native nemirkían customs to some extend (in some cases completely so), certain old góalanic traditions have survived or even spread among the other ethnicities of the empire, such as their language, which is widely used by scholars of the arcane and those who work with magic in general.

History

While a few families have lived in this region since the days of the Paþarían Empire, most settled there around the orcish conquest of Góalanis during the first two centuries a. Paþ. Initially regarded with distrust, since Góalanis was a major rival of Paþaría, their cultural affinity with all things magic eventually secured the peoples' place within Tirúlíon (one of Paþaría's successor states) as excellent healers, magic staff makers, enchanters and arcane warriors.
Kadríans gained even greater reputation after a triad of kadrían siblings lead a successful rebellion against the tyrant Sarketor, which resulted in the crowning of Ástía and subsequent founding of the Sikíron Empire. Kadrían language, both spoken and written, is currently the unofficial language of the arcane arts, and has become quite popular among the aristocracy (much to the dismay of the more conservative clans).

Culture

Apparel

Traditional kadrían clothing is quite similar for both men and women, consisting of a long-sleeved tunic and sandals, often decorated with trims and roundels. Few kadríans often wear it nowadays outside Kadría, as most have adopted the common nemirkían clothing, consisting of a short, sleeveless tunic and sandals for men and a long dress for women, though sometimes decorated with traditional motifs.

Religion

Most kadríans practice a form of polytheism which includes both mainstream sikíronian deities as well as those worshipped by the greater góalanic community. Among the latter, some of the most popular deities include Asirkelía (goddess of magic), Fannas (fertility god depicted as minotaur) and Vyrris (snake-headed god of the underworld, wine-making and prophecy).

Notable kadríans

He wrote a collection of thirty seven volumes on the matter, much of which is still used by sikíronian scholars of the arcane.
  • Þarlató: The most prominent student of Ikílos, who flourished in the 10th century a.Paþ. She laid the foundation for the Þarlató Academy in Kadría.
