Characters Organizations Relationships Diplomacy

What functionality is missing?
What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

Currently, the relationships panels for characters and organizations shows the position (left or right) of the parties based on how it was entered when created. This breaks the "flow" of the article you are viewing based on which side of the relationship was created first. The escalates if you have multiple relationships causing the character or organization to be on either side.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

Changing this so that the active article is first position (left side) helps tell the story for THAT character or organization, so that all information is their story or from their perspective. Helps the flow and reader maintains context.   This is a collaborative feature request by

Thank you one and all that voted for this feature request. The amount of support was amazing. I am hopeful that Dimitris and the World Anvil team will view this as a worthy upgrade. Here is looking to the future of World Building.

    The Team's Response

Sounds like a very reasonable request! This will be be implemented in the presentation part of the planned relationship update. Don't expect it soon, but it will come.

Some of my characters can get pretty wonkly when it comes to their relationships, and I do love the linking in WA but it can quickly confuse whose most important, who was just a wild night etc. Would love this!

I know GRAYLION well enough to know that if he's requesting it, it matters. (nod, nod, wink, wink) ...then I read it. Well hell, I didn't even notice the POV altered....because I always want flow and maintaining reader context! I'm in.

      1. Yah, if an entity has several relationships, that entity should always be listed on the left side, and the OTHER entity on the right.   2. There should be a way to sort relationships. At least by either 2.1 allowing one to be the most relevant (checkbox), or 2.2 allow to sort them (drag'n'drop list), or 2.3 give a weight to each so they are sorted by that.

Having more control over the presentation of that would be nice. It would allow me to make better use of the feature. Right now, I don't use it because I don't have what is suggested here.

Thank you for posting this suggestion. This issue has long bothered me a little and I would very much prefer relationships to function as you have proposed. I think this feature change would make it much easier to read and compare relationships as well as provide a more consistent presentation.
