Wolfhold
This is the coastal port city where the Seawolf Estate is located. It is home to several minor noble families and prosperous merchant families, as well as the esteemed Lord Calder Seawolf and his family.
Demographics
Being a part of the Empire, the city is mainly inhabited by human Eschiens. Those who live here are usually involved in the trading industry, more often sea than land, but it is a fairly large settlement and has its share of other trades and industries.
Government
Wolfhold is run by Lord Seawolf, under the authority given to him by the Emphir.
Defences
With several noble and wealthy families of variable worth, the city is well-defended, including an Imperial detachment of guards to help with the large amount of Imperial trade and shipping done through the city.
Industry & Trade
Wolfhold is a huge trade port for the Empire, and many of the inhabitants are connected to the trading and shipping industries in some manner. The other work in all trades to support the large city.
Districts
- Courtyard District - The Courtyard District is the wealthiest area of the city, where the minor nobles and the extremely weathly tradesmen, artisans, and such live. where most of the nobles and other wealthy and privileged live.
- Guard Barracks - Wolfhold is big enough and deals with enough major Empire trade to warrant it's own detachment of the Eschen Military.
- Old City - The area of the city known as the Old City, which was most of the original city before it began to expand, is the place where most of the medium-wealthy people live.
- Seawolf Estate - Positioned right on the coast, the Seawolf family estate lies at the heart of the city.
- Civil Ward - Near the harbor, in the sheltered area of the city between the Seawolf estate and the Courtyard District, the Civil Ward houses law officies, temples, and other civil services.
- North Docks - The North Docks are the smaller section of the harbor, and private docks. It mainly services parts of the Seawolf fleet as well as Eschien ships and a few other friends of the family.
- Artisan's District - The Artisan district is mainly full of shops, inns, taverns, and workshops; and the people who own them.
- Trade District - The Trade district is mostly housing, services, and warehouses for those who work the trades. Sailors, merchants, caravan workers - they live and work in primarily this area.
- South Ward - The South Ward is the area immediately surrounding the South Gate. The South Gate and the Southern road form one border of the agricultural area.
- Common District - The Common District is the place where most of the common citizens live.
- East Ward - The East Ward is the area immediately surrounding the East Gate. The East Gate and the road towards Dragonpass form one border of the agricultural area.
- Forest Ward - The Forest Ward is the area immediately surrounding the Forest Gate.
History
Wolfhold was previously a small coastal city that did some trade for the peninsula on which it sat, or offered waypoint for those who needed to stop before going around or to open sea. But the Seawolf family were excellent sailors and captains, and within a few generations rose quickly to have a near-stranglehold on shipping and trading in the Empire. Wolfhold grew rapidly along with the increased business around the Seawolf family and it is not a large port city.
Architecture
Most of the older parts of the city are built with stone, while the newer parts of the city are often constructed of wood treated to resist the harsh saltwater environment.
Geography
Wolfhold sits on the coast, with many miles of shoreline in the Ash Sea, and the inland environment is mixed forest.
Climate
It is warm in this area, with highs in the 90s and lows in the 60s, year-round. Ther are some cooler breezes from the sea.
