Ostar

Ostar is the capitol city of The Brilliant Empire, and the stronghold of the Emphir and his family. It is the seat of power for the Empire.

Demographics

Ostar, the heart of the fairly xenophobic Empire, has an almost entirely human demographic, though visitors from their conquered lands, such as Oskksul, are not uncommon. There is a large distribution of wealth and professions, as would be expected from such a large settlement.

Government

In the Empire, the Emphir's word is law. The capital city is run much the same way, though the day-to-day may be left to the various councils or influenced by the people-elected Mayor. Taxes are determined by income but are generally higher in the capital to support programs and infrastructure.

Defences

The main portion of the ciy is walled for protection, with the Emphir's compound having another wall. Ostar is the country's headquarters for the military and Guard, and so very well-protected. The city also spirals inward onto a hill, with the Imperial castle being the highest point.

Industry & Trade

The city is mainly self-supporting, with the primary industry being the training of Army and Guard, and the preliminary training of the Navy before they are shipped off to big port cities.

Districts

  1. Gold District - The homes of the very wealthy. Nobles who keep homes in the city usually have them here, as well as very prominent military leaders, dignitaries, etc.
  2. Silver District - Homes of the moderately wealthy as well as businesses that serve the very and moderately wealthy. Minor nobles may live here, prosperous merchants and traders, and military officers.
  3. The Greens - Public green space, usable by everyone from the common people to the Imperial family.
  4. Emphir's Compound - The Imperial palace. Home to the Imperial family and most of the running of the country, with offices and such.
  5. Bronze District - The home of citizens who are not wealthy but are not just the "common people". Merchants, soldiers with families, traders, skilled workers.
  6. Stone District - The Stone District is the home of the common person, and most businesses in the city.
  7. Double Gate District - The area where the Stone district has overflowed the city borders.
  8. The Bottoms - The closest thing to a slum in Ostar, or really any Imperial city, this is government-subsidized housing and such for the impoverished.
  • a. Senary Compound - The home of The Senary in Ostar. The compound hosts all six branches.
  • b. Ostar University - Higher education in Ostar
  • c. Guard Compound - Offices and headquarters of the City Imperial Guard.
  • d. Guild Headquarters - Offices and headquartes of those who run Guilds in the city.

Architecture

The original architecture of the city is made of stone. Newer architecture is stone or wood. Brick is uncommon.
