Law of Six

The Law of Six is an Atovist belief shared by all six major denominations. The belief revolves around the holy number six, and states that the gods of the Atovist Pantheon created all great things in intervals of six, and the number six can thus be seen in all aspects of every day life, showing the gods' residual influence. This belief can be as benign as a simple superstition or artistic influence, to being more consequential such as dictating the number of archbishops allowed in an Atovist high council.   Some Atovists believe in the law as a strict, universal truth, while others see it as a general trend that may or may not be true. The belief tends to be more strictly held amongst Orthodox Atovists.

Examples of the Rule

The Law of Six is "proven" with various examples that believers point to. These are obviously subject to confirmation bias, where faithful Atovists wishing to prove the rule will edit a list of things until there is only six examples.
  • There are six gods in the Atovist Pantheon.
  • Atovists believe in six creative muses that make up all of creation: Color, purpose, lust, harmony, work, and pain
  • Atovists likewise believe in six antithetical Great Strifes that are the root of all evil: blasphemy, slothfulness, covetous greed, deceit, theft, and murder
  • There are six great nations of man, Estaria, Prekha, Narr, Landren, Sadrove, and T'Ched. (This list intentionally excludes Keth)
  • The medical theory of the Six Pillars states that there are six essences in every human's body that must maintain balance.
  • There are six months in the Atovist Calendar, which Atovist's view as six separate seasons.
  • There are six "sapient races" in Vildrel: Humanity, Giants, Droven, Chimera, Dredges and Aberrations.
