This traditional-style ceremonial carriage is used by the High Priestess of Torva when she travels beyond the Torva Temple complex in Torverath.   The people of Torverath love the priestess, and most of them are thrilled to see the carriage when it exits the temple grounds. Even when the priestess orders a small procession, these excursions often turn into miniature parades, with people stopping along the side of the road.

Design

The priestess carriage is always a small, open-style carriage from which the priestess can stand and cast magic. This aspect is particularly crucial during the Divine Lights Festival, also known as the Magic Lights Festival. Guards walk or ride horses around the carriage.   Each High Priestess chooses the design of the carriage. She may choose to use a previous High Priestess's carriage, alter it, or commission a new one. Some choose simple designs, while others opt for more ornate or extravagant carriages. This is often influenced by popular tastes and opinions of the time. Some High Priestesses choose to have separate carriages: one for general travel, usually closed, and one for the Divine Lights Festival.   The current High Priestess, Ariadne, has chosen for a very simple, classic design.

Divine Lights Festival

The most significant use of the carriage occurs during the Divine Lights Festival a summertime parade when the Goddess Constellation is brightest. The parade begins at dusk and extends from the city gates to the Temple of Torva, a long route to allow as many celebrants as possible to enjoy the parade, witness the lights, and receive blessings from the High Priestess.   The High Priestess's carriage is the highlight of the parade. She casts impressive displays of light magic from the carriage, to the delight of attendants.

Torva

The Divine Goddess
Torva is the goddess of light and healing. Her teachings and followers denounce necromancy and all forms of blood magic.

Worship of Torva has spread throughout Imbria and beyond, particularly throughout Salaris, with her temple, High Priestess, and seat of influence residing in the city-state Torverath.

Worship of the Goddess is banned in Necros, the only country to embrace necromancy.
