Received: 1559年11月16日 23:00 (Evening)

Palatium Humilitatis

Historical Entry: Invoice: Damages to Palatium Humilitatis

To whom it may concern at Ago Manor,   In light of recent vandalism within Palatium Humilitatis, property of His Glorious Light, Lucifer, the Court of Pride hereby orders reparations in the amount listed at the end of this document. The debt may be paid by either of the bad actors involved in this act of defacement. Specifically, Knight Commander Maxim, Duchess Eligos, or any combination of the same. Failure to tender payment within one day of the incident will result in further consequences to follow.   Item #1
Damage: Scratch marks on marble floor
Inflicted by Knight Commander Maxim when he flew bodily through the air and landed perniciously upon the marble flooring within Palatium Humilitatis. Deep grooves from the hellforged plates of Hostimentum present. Will be difficult to repair.
Cost: 5 Aureus   Item #2
Lost: Golden hellforged helmet and spear
Two considerate and generous gifts cast aside as worthless by Duchess Eligos. Location remains unknown. Both must be returned in pristine condition or the following replacement cost applies.
Replacement Cost: 22 Aureus   Item #3
Damage: Bloodstain on red carpet
Knight Commander Maxim's blood is a distressing shade of dark red that remains clearly visible on the crimson carpets within Palatium Humilitatis. Inflicted when Maxim maliciously pierced himself upon Tonbōgiri, Honda Tadakatsu's spear. Strands of red ki woven into the blood are theorized to have allowed him to survive the attack, but will in turn be more difficult to remove from the flooring's delicate weave.
Cost: 7 Aureus   Item #4
Damage: Scorch marks on red carpet
Duchess Eligos' blood maintains an internal temperature that is inimical to fine art. Encouraged by Knight Commander Maxim's malicious influence and enabled by his sword, Hokkuken, she knowingly spilled this blood over a large swath of the red carpet within Palatium Humilitatus. The entire section will need to be torn up and replaced.
Cost: 15 Aureus   Item #5
Emotional damage: Betrayal
Polluted by Knight Commander Maxim's disgusting ideas and the influence of Ira Sathana, Duchess Eligos has been convinced to join forces with the organization "The Wolfpack," known agents of Wrath, in a blatant attempt to depose His Glorious Light, Lucifer, who only wanted to help. The Glorious One hereby seeks reparations both for damage to His reputation and the many hours of therapy that recovery from this detestable act will no doubt require.
Cost: 1,231 Aureus   Item #6
Damage: Ruined statues
In a final act of hateful vandalism, both Duchess Eligos and Knight Commander Maxim engaged in wanton destruction of two expensive statues within Palatium Humilitatis. Both works have been so defaced that they cannot be replaced, artwork lost forever thanks to this pair's careless and reckless actions.
Cost: 116 Aureus   Item #7
Stolen: Golden circlet
An expensive golden circlet, The Daystar Crown, was removed from the premises of Palatium Humilitatis without His Brilliance Lucifer's permission. The item must be returned within one hour or the following replacement cost will be incurred:

ACT 3

SCENE 1

Setting: EXT Miwa-myōjin   At Rise: AOTSUKI, the SHEELE, and the SHIROKURODAN stand before Miwa-myōjin. Smoke visible in background, rising from temple. SUMISAKI HISAE sweeps between them and the entrance at stage back.
AOTSUKI
We come here following a trail most foul. Tell me, priestess. Art thou the one influencing the Dodomeki to commit its atrocities upon the town above?
HISAE
Influencing the Dodomeki? I'm afraid you have me at a loss, Lord Aotsuki.
AOTSUKI (with a finger to his chin)
Then allow me to start with something less confrontational. Canst thou tell me where we are?
HISAE
This is Miwa-myōjin of course. A temple so grand, so hidden, that it must not truly exist.   (Director's Note: We've been asked by certain influential backers to make it obvious that Miwa-myōjin doesn't really exist. It doesn't, right?)
AOTSUKI
And has anyone else visited thy temple this night?
HISAE
We get few visitors. Only yourself, my lord.
AOTSUKI
Then if the temple is open to visitors, you shall not object if we look inside.
HISAE
Of course. Miwa-myōjin is open to all who can find it, although most come only to make offerings.
AOTSUKI
Very well. To my side, Shirokurodan! We inspect the premises now for any sign of our foul quarry.   —(AOTSUKI, the SHEELE, and the SHIROKURODAN approach the entrance. It opens before they arrive to reveal MOMOSE NAO, with soot on his face.)
MOMOSE NAO
You don't have to go any further. Let's leave this place. Help me find who killed my sister and all this can end.
AOTSUKI
The graveyard boy! Thou shouldst be dead. Does a specter appear before me now?
NAO
I am dead. In every way that matters. All that remains now is—
HISAE
Vengeance.
AOTSUKI
Then we shall talk. I feel for your pain, and I seek your justice, but I cannot condone thy measures taken.
NAO
Very well. I have nowhere left to run.
AOTSUKI
Tell me first, what fate hast befallen you?
NAO
I found my sister murdered. I ran into the woods. Then...everything was hazy. When I awoke, I had the power to punish the killers. First, I must find them.
HISAE
And that's what I'm helping with.
AOTSUKI
We shall find the killer and bring them to a proper sentencing.
NAO (with rising anger)
No. That won't do. I want the murderer to suffer.
AOTSUKI
Dost thou not think they have already been suffering. All suffer in this accursed, miasma-plagued place. Enough. Let us end it together.
NAO
Then let them suffer. A hundred men. A thousand. So long as the murderer suffers with them.
AOTSUKI (gravely)
Nao. Is that what Umiko would want?   —(NAO steps back as though struck)
HISAE
Of course it is. I spoke to her spirit, and that's exactly what she told me.
AOTSUKI
Lies. Silence thyself, trickster, for the Light of Amaterasu pierces thy petty darkness.   —(NAO steps inside. Cue smoke explosion. DODOMEKI enters from same door)  (Song: "WHAT OF JUSTICE")
DODOMEKI
I am condemned, but we must do what we can to make it right.
HISAE
Tch.   —(DODOMEKI enters the temple at stage back. AOTSUKI, the SHEELE, the SHIROKURODAN, and HISAE follow)
CURTAIN

SCENE 2

Setting: INT Miwa-myōjin Inner Sanctum   At Rise: AOTSUKI and HISAE stand stage left. At stage right, a blackened body lies atop an altar surrounded by purple candles. The DODOMEKI stalks towards it.
HISAE
It's a smaller revenge than what I was hoping for, but it will do to please Izanami.
AOTSUKI
Priestess Hisae. Pray to the sun that the next time we meet it shall be on better terms than discovering thou hast been terrorizing a village in my demense.
HISAE
You're a bit young for my tastes, but I wouldn't object to meeting again.
AOTSUKI
And the body. Is that young Umiko upon the slab?
HISAE
No! I wouldn't be that heartless.   —(DODOMEKI begins tearing the candles up and snaps the altar and body in two)
HISAE
That's the latest kidnapped villager.
AOTSUKI
Their souls already within Izanami's foul grasp...
HISAE
You're no stranger to the Lady of Death's ways, I see. But I am a stranger to yours. Tell me, what will you do with that?
AOTSUKI
What else? We shalt find who murdered his sister and bring them to justice.

Queen's Landing

Historical Entry: Not a Hit List

Champion,   I imparted a lot of information to you the last time we met. Our Lady is one of Forbidden Knowledge, but even forbidden words must be recorded somewhere. It is my hope that this list helps you, and the Soon Champion of Chaos if he wishes, to keep your enemies in mind as we begin Her work in the Dreamlands.   "Your friend," Osogami Wakatsu
  1. Hagarg Ryonis: Stalks the Karthian Hills outside of Oonai, slaying all Dreamers who challenge him. Domains include gigantism and physical power.
  2. Karakal of Flames: Spreads across the Dreamlands like fire. His true location is always in flux. Wherever a flame is rekindled, there he is too. Domains include failure and rebirth.
  3. Lobon of the Sacred Spear: Fell with Tyrhhia. They are silent, but perhaps closer than you expect. Domains include physical transformation.
  4. Ilyth'la: Haunts the coasts of the Fantastic Realms where her monstrous children may flourish. Domains include birth and vampirism.
  5. Nath-Horthath, the Lier-in-Wait: Hides herself somewhere beneath the Forbidden Lands, certain that her prey will come to her. Domains include predation and hidden danger.
  6. Oukranos of the Flowering Mind: Wanders the Plateau of Leng far to the north, separated from the other Great Ones. Domains include madness and unchecked spread.
  7. Tamash of Illusions: Lingers in the ruins of Kadath, ruling over Gugs in a mockery of a kingdom. He builds an army for an unknown purpose. Domains include confusion and the illusion of progress.
  8. Zo-Kalar: Rots beneath the Dreamsea. Though dead, he is more powerful than his kin. His rot spreads through The Sunken City, deeper than you can imagine. Domains include decay and abandonment.

Log of the Quartet Royale

The foreign lord, Roozokey Sanyoskay has left (I've been forced to transliterate this foreign tongue, so different from English or my own mother tongue). As we expected, our destination of Shimonoseki is far from here; on the other side of the island.   Fortunately, he was kind enough to grant us a guide. A woman, named "Shee-bye," who is quite pleasant if aggressively foreign. She has instructed us to sail west, then north, then east again to reach our destination. We shall do so and, with the favorable winds and tide promised us by Heaven, expect to reach our rendezvous by tomorrow. I only pray that our friends in the Sancta Sedes have not yet been overrun by the demonic taint that has its hold on this land.   We set sail at once. I will resume this log tomorrow before our arrival if the Captain has not yet recovered.
