Kadath
Abode of the Great Ones
A floating city located far north of the Plateau of Leng, beyond the mapped realms of the Dreamlands. Kadath itself is a floating city, angular and inscrutable, held aloft by horrible forces. This is the abode of the Great Ones, ancient gods who once ruled over Earth, dreams, and perhaps more. They are diminished now, but jealous and hateful in their exile.
Beneath the floating city stretches a dry and grey wasteland. The Gugs live here in primitive tribes and nomadic packs. Some have set up camps among the ruined obelisks that scatter the cracked ground like rotting teeth. Few have built permanent structures. Though brutish and unimaginative, Gugs serve the Great Ones with a fanatical zealotry and receive dark blessings in return.
Few in the Dreamlands have visited or even seen Kadath, save for a few legendary Dreamers. The pathway from the Plateau is too treacherous, infested with Leng Spiders and worse. Hashinara Yoshitakatomo counts herself* among these privileged few, having glimpsed the city through a mystical vision when reading a Gug's past. It is rumored by some, however, that a route to Kadath exists in Earth as well as in dreams, and that this terrible city is a nexus which connects the two worlds.
