Arabas V Core Miner
A very large structure built on Arabas V, the 5th planet in the Arabas System which is owned by the Sulethis Republic.
The structure is so large that it is easily noticeable from space. Thousands of kilometres in size, it is designed to extract a very large amount of metal ore from the core of the planet and then use its onboard space elevator built into it to bring it to the surface. Obviously it extracts a very large amount of material which makes it important for the SR, but it is maintained by the rest of the surface of the world.
The megastructure also uses extracted material to upgrade and expand itself. It initially started off as a small core extraction base before growing into the massive, city-like structure it is now. Even its space elevator was extended using much larger platforms and eventually thicker cabnles to take the weight. Eventually, this was upgraded further to make use of the excellent railgun technology of the SR - a giant electromagnetic rail accelerator was accomodated within the cable, which would accept a massive amount of energy to fire the platform at massive speed through the stratosphere into space, which massively shortened travel times and increased the effective capacity of the elevator. The megastructure is powered geotermally using the heat of the core. Although it is well known that damaging the core of a planet in this way will probably damage its magnetosphere, the planet is already uninhabited and will likely not be used for many applications, so this operation has been allowed.
Although they have extracted a lot of material from the core, the majority of this core remains as there is a massive amount of material there. It will likely remain this way for thousands of years.
