Arabas III
Planet located in the Arabas System, which is owned by the Sulethis Republic.
Arabas III is a very hot gas giant. It has such a high surface temperature due to capturing solar radiation, the atmosphere keeping it within the gas giant (similar to how Venus is hotter than Mercury). However, the world is far too small to sustain fusion, so it does not emit any light or fuse. The SR has historically struggled to exploit this gas giant as the wind can achieve extremely high velocity (due to being so hot). Any gas collection station needed to withstand both that and the heat.
Instead, then, the SR elected to build a megastructure around it. It is similar in nature to a ring world star lifter. It works by reducing the magnetosphere of the gas giant which causes it to lose some mass. This gas is then collected by the ring world.This allows them to collect a large amount of gas, the SR has mined about 0.3% of the entire mass of the gas giant, which considering the sheer size of the planet, is a very large amount.Given the importance of this gas giant, the SR has of course defended it with a similarly large number of railgun stations. The megastructure was not cheap to construct like the mining stations.
