Catthorn Ridge

Written by Lahtori

Catthorn Ridge is a beautiful country, home to the many tribes of the Tabaxi race, with an ever different landscape in each region. While most of the country is flowing green plains, nature itself has warped and taken shape around the tribes of the land.

Tribes

There are five tribes that each inhabit a region of Catthorn Ridge. Each tribe has their own unique crest to distinguish themselves from the others.
  • Snow Leopards
  • Tigers
  • Lions
  • Tabbies
  • Panthers
The crowned monarch also receives their own crest, in addition to their tribal crest. The monarch crest is a shield, with a half wreath behind it. The inner portion of the shield has five distinct circles, forming a pointed star, and represents the unity of the five tribes of Catthorn Ridge. -Elisa

Government

Catthorn Ridge is ruled firstly by the Denner family. Each tribe has an elected leader, chosen at the death of the previous one, who attends court when summoned. Court meets a minimum of once a calendar year at Cattharn. At court, the leaders can bring forth grievances or commendations to the crown. They also share news of their status, as a people and community, and begin making strategic plans for the following year to ensure prosperity not only to the kingdom but to each other and their respective tribes as well.   Court may be summoned additional times for the following events:
  • Coronations
  • Royal engagements and weddings
  • Formal balls
  • Visitors from another country
  • Crimes against the crown and/or against the tribes
  • Royal and elected official funerals
  • Entering war
  • Natural disaster reconstruction services

Known Elected Officials

As of over two years ago, the Panther leader is a wise woman by the name of Wicca. -Elisa

Geography

To the northwest lies the “Tabby Fissures”, a broken and charred land from calamities past. Hundreds of years has gone into regrowing the trees and healing the wounds in the earth, but progress is slow.   To the northeast lies the “Tiger Sands”, gentle rolling dunes of pure fine sand. Home to the beautiful beaches of the land, gifted with warm waters despite it’s northern location.   To the east lies the “Denner Mountains”. Mountains of every size forming a safe alcove and gifting the country with ore and precious gems.   To the southeast lies the “Golden Lion Farms”, the land cultivated and harvested. Fields of golden plant life stretch as far as the eye can see.   To the southwest lies the “Panther Jungle”, although misnamed as the woods are deciduous and broadleaf more so than a jungle. These woods are impassable, thick, dense.   The capital of the country, named Cattharn as homage to their ancestors, stands at its center, the green plains canvasing the lands around it. From the highest tower, one may be able to see the vastly different biomes of the land.

Fauna & Flora

Fauna

Prior to the Lamorakian calendar, Catthorn Ridge was primarily inhabited by the early Tabaxi race, known as a Beast Alliance. Records show little wildlife outside of the sub-races and smaller prey.   Now, Catthorn Ridge is home not to just the Tabaxi and small prey, but animals of all kinds. The mountains are home to mountain goats, though rare and hardly seen as they keep to the highest mountains, atop the highest peaks. The farms supply all sorts of livestock, bred and traded from neighboring kingdoms: sheep, cattle, chickens, pigs, horses. Small birds have migrated to the regions of Catthorn Ridge, filling nature with their lovely songs. (Finches being the most populous.)

Flora

Vegetation changes with the biomes of the region. The sands have cacti, while pine trees grow in the northwest. Deciduous and sycamores primarily form the woods to the south. The farms grow and cultivate hundreds of different flowers for the kingdom.

Natural Resources

The pure sands in the north fuel glass production.   The mountains provide iron, steel, and opals, though the gems themselves are scarce and difficult to mine.   The ports of the kingdom serve not only as means of transportation of people and goods, but give opportunity for fishing.   These natural resources have brought wealth and fortune to the kingdom and the towns, giving Catthorn Ridge the means to trade and keep tight relations with their neighbors.
