Panther Jungle

Written by Lahtori

There comes a moment, when you get lost in the woods, when the woods begin to feel like home.
— Jeffrey Eugenide
Home to the Panther tribe, the Jungle encompasses the southwestern region of Catthorn Ridge. Much about the Jungle and the Panthers are shrouded in mystery, the tribe itself being overly secretive in nature. For this fact, myths and tales have sprout up in an effort to explain the unknown.

Cities, Towns, Settlements

Noirethum

Believed to be the name of the city of the Panther tribe, located somewhere in their jungle. Not much is known about the reclusive panther sub-race. They are seen at the capital, trading and buying, and those called to court appear when summoned.   Population: ???

Myths and Stories

Panther Guard

It is said that the Panther tribe is the backbone of the throne - the secret guard to the royal family. They keep the kingdom safe, striking from the shadows and melding perfectly into the darkness. Assassins beware, the Panthers have your shadow.
While this myth may have been true at some point in Catthorn Ridge’s history, the Panther tribe has not been recorded as part of the royal guard in centuries. There is also no secret guard to the royal family either, just the royal guard. Or so that is what I have been told. -Elisa

The Lost Woods

The forest itself is said to be a living entity. It moves and breathes, the shadows stretching far, reaching out, grasping at your feet. The woods twist and change, one moment you passed a three-hundred year old tree, its bark riddled with age, and the moment you turn to look at it, it’s gone. In its place, a towering tree with no lower branches, stemming high above the leaves of its neighbors. As the wind passes through the leaves, you can hear the woods laugh. As you spiral deeper - you think - into the forest, your mind loses track of all that is real and you start to see them - the yellow eyes blinking in and out from the darkness all around.

Lost in the Woods

When I look back at the things I had
The things that now are gone
I was planting seeds of division
But the trees grew tall and strong   I used to see for miles around
But now the forest grows
Beneath the shade of branches
Are secrets no one knows   At first it was a place to hide
An oasis on barren lands
But holding on to a past that's gone
Was just leaving time on my hands   For years I must have wandered
Abandoning all that was good
I thought I knew my way out
But now I'm lost in the woods
— Mysidian Bard
