Description

Edward is an elderly monk of the Order of St. Benedict. He was originally a commoner and a farmer before taking up the habit, and has two sons. His wife died a number of years ago. He has a working knowledge of Roman Catholicism and still learning the intricacies of the faith when it comes to the life of a monk. Having met Father Tossil he hopes to live up to the ideals of this young priest.   He joined the monastery at Old Minister after he witnessed an exorcism take place in his little community a few miles outside Wilton in Wessex. It was of a hedge wizard who had discovered a ritual for summoning someone knowledgeable about healing & herbs. Unfortunately it was a demon that proceeded to possess the wizard, and caused havoc in the region. It gave prophesies too, and one that said that a local elderly man will meet a monster that was once human, and he or she would help in thwarting its plans for the foreseeable future.

Ideals

Always live a good life. Not worth kicking the hornets nest of evil, you'll always get stung.

Bonds

My family is important but some things more so, and the monastery will help defend both.

I can be a tad naïve when looking at the big picture.

Channel Divinity: Turn Undead. As an action, Edward can present his Rosary and speak a prayer censuring the Undead. Each undead that can see or hear him within 30 feet of him must make a Wisdom saving throw. If the creature fails it's saving throw, it is turned for 1 minute or until it takes any damage. A turned creature must spend its turns trying to move as far away from Edward as it can, and it can't willingly move to a space within 30 feet of him. It also can't take reactions, For it's action, it can use only the Dash action or try to escape from an effect that prevents it from moving. If there's nowhere to move, the creature can use the Dodge action.   Healing Hand. Edward has some medical knowledge and the use of prayer. As an action, he can heal one creature within 5 feet of himself for 5 2d4 hit points.

Actions

Quarterstaff. Melee Weapon Attack +3 to hit, reach 5 feet, one target. Hit 3 1d6 bludgeoning damage, or 4 1d8 bludgeoning damage if used two handed.
