His Illustrious Highness the Prince Keilan Kauharanha ta Failenha
Keilan was born with a destiny, and not only because he was the eldest child of the king of Kaleina. There was magic in him, planted before he was born and then given a lifetime to grow and mature. When he reached adulthood, he will be ready. Keilan will have the power to destroy the Forest and save Veiama from destruction.
The problem is, he doesn't know what that magic is.

Personal history
Keilan was born in Fiana, but he didn't stay there long. To foster the growth of his magic, he was sent away to the remotest part of Vaansiam to be raised by druids. On Alakuan, he grew up in the peace and tranquility of nature.
He spent most of his days romping around the island, exploring every nook and cranny. The most exciting days were when he accompanied one of the druids into Maili to shop. Although Maili is a barely more than a village, it's the only settlement in Lake Oska larger than homesteads and hamlets. Twice a year, his mother came to visit and spend a few weeks with him, and he pestered her endlessly about what it was like to live in a castle and what the big city was like.
Keilan would describe his life as boring. He grew up devouring any book he could get his hands on that would teach him more about the world beyond Lake Oska and lived off of stories about Fiana. He was also often lonely. Everyone knew he was the prince and treated him at arm's length.
When he was close to twelve years old, he received the news that his mother had drowned back in Fiana. Keilan, who treated her visits as the highlight of his year, took the news hard. He started spending more time away from the druids and wandering the island alone. When he was 13, he was caught attempting to sneak onto a ship bound for Tammin Island, with the goal of running away to Kaleina.
His father arranged for a local boy to be hired as his valet. This was under the pretense of preparing him for royal life in Fiana, but it was an open secret the druids wanted the boy to keep an eye on him and attempt to socialize him.
The boy, Tarri, taught Keilan swordsmanship along with being someone to talk to and an errand runner, although despite the druids' hopes, Keilan never truly opened up to him. Keilan lives for the day that an emissary from Fiana will arrive so that he can finally return to the capital and fulfill his destiny.

Keilan was educated by the druids. His education was expansive, and though it featured a large religious component, he received groundwork in literature, science, history, geography, and math as well.
His favourite thing to study was music. He was always fascinated by magic and grew up being told that when he grew up, he would gain the magical ability needed to rid the world of the Forest. He started trying to learn magic even before he had his tausai and could only learn the theory. He studied many instruments from the druids, but his favourite was the fiddle.
