Alakuan Island

Alakuan is a small island in Lake Oska, in the remote northern region of Vaansiam. The only settlement on the island is a shrine to Karu and the druid complex surrounding it. The nearest settlement is Maili, on the nearby Mailikuan, just under a mile away.   Access to Alakuan is on a personal basis. There are no scheduled passages to it, but personal canoes are common and it's easy to paddle from one island to other in about 15 minutes. Usually this is the druids travelling to Maili for supplies, but Maili residents seeking spiritual guidance will travel to Alakuan to consult the druids.   Alakuan itself has fairly uniform geography. The sides are steep and covered in bushes. A wooden dock built on the west side provides a place to dock boats, with stone steps leading up to the flatter top. The island is covered in skinny birch and pine trees that are sparse enough to make walking through the bush easy. In the centre of the island is the stone circle of the shrine, and beside it, the wooden buildings of the druid complex.
