Koa'ki (ˈko.aʔˌki)
"They feared Koa'ki, so we made it our home. They called it cursed, and we found a paradise. Koa'ki has always been waiting for those brave enough to live here. - Keola Mālauka’i
Koa'ki is a medium-sized island located in the Southern Region, near the equator to the east of the large islands of Motu and Atu Motu. It is home to the Kaikai people who fled oppression on Atu Motu centuries ago and settled here.
The island is home to ancient ruins and artifacts that hint at a mysterious past. On the northern coast, the city of Kikai is built inside the titanic stone buildings left behind, and off the coast a sunken pyramid houses the bizarre Book of Koa'ki. Scholars from all over the Great Ring come to Koa'ki to study these relics from a lost age, and there are as many theories about them as scholars.
The center of the island is dominated by the great jungle known as the Vaomatua. This dense, tropical forest is home to many exotic creatures and dangerous predators, as well as dozens of plant species found nowhere else in the world. The jungle also holds more ruins and hidden treasures which draw adventurous explorers to the island.
Due to its location, Koa'ki has many visitors. Kikai is the largest port between the Malikate of Saba to the east and the city of Tauranga to the west. The city is a bustling hub of trade and commerce, with merchants and travelers from all over the islands coming to trade their goods.
Notable Spirits
Koa'ki is home to many gods and spirits, who are collectively called the Kahuna'iwi. The Kaikai believe that these beings inhabited the island long before humans ever arrived there, and that they honor the courage of the Kaikai by allowing them to live there with them. They acknowledge four major gods that rule over Koa'ki equally, each one claiming a particular domain of the island as their own.
The mountains of Koa'ki are the domain of Kāngi, who rules everything above the trees. The sky and winds are a part of Kāngi's realm, and birds are his servants and messengers. The jungles and forests are ruled by Kūma, who is the patron of hunting and wild things, and also loves the many athletic competitions of the Kaikai. Kūma is a god of trials and tests, and all the creatures of the forest serve him.
Longo is the ruler of the rivers and coastlines of Koa'ki, and all cultivated land and fresh water belongs to her. She is one of the most important of the Kahuna'iwi, for it is upon her land that the Kaikai live, and it is her water they drink. Finally, there is Kangaroa who rules over the seas near Koa'ki. All saltwater is her realm, along with the creatures that live there. The Kaikai ask Kangaroa's blessing on all boats, and beseech her for aid when fishing or undertaking a journey over the sea.
Geography
Koa'ki is roughly triangular island, measuring 134 miles across at its widest point and pointing southwest. A series of volcanos run from northeast to southwest across the center of the island, with the largest and most active being Kauhala. Earthquakes are a common occurance, although the Kaikai claim that they cannot be felt when inside the great buildings of Kikai.
Most of the population lives in the coastal regions, and the interior is dominated by the tropical rainforest called the Vaomatua. The hills and mountains rise out of this jungle, and there are several streams and rivers that flow down from the mountains though the Vaomatua, bringing fresh water to the coastal communities.

I'm so intrigued by the island's past. I love the idea of the four gods/spirits, too. :)
