Suthers

The growing lower class population of New Caliber has largely settled in the southern region of the city, nestled between the dockyards and The Sledges where work is most commonly available. Originally (and officially) called South End, somewhere along the line everyone just started calling it Suthers. Suthers is the second largest residential section of town, after the Hilltops, but is far more densely populated. And it still seems to be growing everyday. The buildings are generally cramped, the rooms more so, and the services are geared towards people who don't have much to spend after paying the bills. Slum after slum is found in the South End, hoe to the workers who keep The Sledges  going, work as servants in Mithril Mile, or do the jobs they can find in the rest of the city.
The areas closest to the city center are filled with brickhouse apartment buildings to hold the workers and their families, spreading into smaller housing the farther south one goes. Construction is always underway here, but even still there doesn't seem to be enough room for the workers and foreign refugees who continue to move into the area.
Suthers also sees some of the worst crime in the city, as overpopulation and unemployment take their toll. Many populations have broken into separate neighborhoods based on species or home region, with many of these areas taking on their own identities.
