Mithril Mile
The northern coast of New Caliber has become a symbol of the wealth and prosperity that many aspire to, yet many others see as a glaring example of the opulence and excess of the upper class. The wealthiest of the wealthy citizens of New Caliber keep lavish mansions here, including Merchant Lords, businessmen, wizards, noble heirs, and former adventurers. Some of the largest mansions take up an entire city block, but most are smaller, with huge fences between each owner's property. Because the mansions serve as symbols of wealth, they are generally heavily guarded. This includes not only hired guards, but magical protections and occasional "traps" set around the area and house.
The wealthy regularly compete with each other to show off their status, hosting huge parties and social functions in their homes, especially the largest manor houses directly along the coast. Inland from the mansions the wealth drops startlingly quickly, forming into the lower class region known as the Drainage District. Here the servants of the wealthy live, the ones who aren't housed within the mansions, a virtual slum in the shadow of their employers.
