Sintallian Forest

The Sintallian Forest is a vast scape of woodlands that comprises the westernmost portions of the Dominion of Indulgence. The forest stands in perpetual spring, with some elements of autumn, with red leaves falling from its unique Vairwood trees, a species of flora that rises to greater heights than even the tallest oaks. The tree's unique ruby-colored leaves and barks of ivory are in part thanks to the unique circumstances of the Rebirth thousands of years ago, when Patricia miraculously brought new life to Ragnarok's southern lands. Because of this, Vairwood bark possesses a tint of Magical potency, which is why it is often dried out and inscribed with runes to create mundane magical items, such as self-cleaning brooms, which are found all over Ambrosia.   The weaving branches of the Vairwood trees have allowed unique species of arboreal life to evolve and adapt, such as rare pythons, small mammals, and species of poisonous frogs not seen anywhere else in the world. Some sparse tribes of satyr have even called these forests home for many thousands of years, and, like the Ebonwood Forest to the east, their cultivation has suffused the Sintallian Forest with fey energies that weave with the remnant magics of the Rebirth.   However, the forest is not without its darker side. During the The War of the Undying, many dangerous forest creatures awakened as undead in order to lay siege to Ambrosia. Though many of these creatures were summarily defeated when the war came to an end, many still remain within the forest's shadowed corners. Many giant spiders, green-skins, and fey-infused monsters hide within the Sintallian's deep, dark crevices, hungrily awaiting lost wanderers.   The forest is home to many ruins from noble houses risen and fallen into obscurity. As wealthy houses sought to build expensive retreats in the far-off reaches of the Sintallian, so have many fallen to the forest's unforgiving wilds. It is not uncommon to find ruined towers of elaborate and expensive stonework, abandoned manors, even sundered altars for wealthy weddings long since passed or crashed by local wildlife.
