Fort Hydra

In centuries past, during the Crusading War, the Dominion of Torment was under constant assault. Once Demon-kind regained the upper-hand, strategic defenses had to be swiftly built. Fort Hydra was one of them, its purpose was to garrisson a large force of Steel Legion soldiers to halt invaders setting foot in the north, and to prevent the Karthan Commonwealth from establishing settlements on the Devil's Stepping Stones. Though its construction was hurried, many layers of reinforcements and improvements have since covered its imperfections, and masons and mages have turned Fort Hydra into a fortress bastion. Although it remains a strategic military site of invaluable importance, centuries without Angelic sightings have left the fort without its original purpose. Still occupied by thousands at all times, Fort Hydra and its garrison stand forever ready for battle, with many fortified ships ready to sail at a moment's notice, well hidden within its walls. Nowadays, Fort Hydra and its garrison patrol the northern regions of the Dead Wastes, the Devil's Stepping Stones and the Whip of Fire between Meyland and Ragnarok, often escorting merchant ships headed south or fending off the occasional pirates who still plague the seas. The Fort itself also serves to remind those who yet hold hatred against Demon-Kind that Ragnarok stands strong and mighty, and only suicidal fools would dare tempt their luck against Torment's finest.
