Quillbrand is a large port town settled along the
Dominion of Indulgence's southern coast. It is a major trading port and a popular tourist attraction, famous for its numerous beach-front resorts, landmarks, and complex history. The sands near Quillband are described as golden silk, and attract beach-goers from across the continent.
The Rose Lagoon
One beachfront resort is the Rose Lagoon, once a manor owned by
Jesma Al'ella. It is a resort particularly famous for its springs, spas, and bathhouses, and it attracts the rich and wealthy from across the dominion. The manor was as much a temple of worship to Jesma's own body and image as it was a place of residence; throughout its halls, marble statues of the most infamously vain leader in the dominion's history stand tall, proud, and shamelessly bear all to see.
History & Tourism
Quillbrand's tourism industry thrives on the sale of its old history as a port where piracy was commonplace and home to all manner of unscrupulous crews and dock gangs. The port was used as a hub for pirates to prowl the
Father's Ocean and southern
Nidean Sea in search of trading ships from
Ragnarok to pillage and plunder. From here, pirates built a number of redoubts and hideouts on the islands to the south:
Ivory Cay, the
Tri-tail Reefs, and
Ringhail Isle.
The Quillband tourism industry romanticizes the town's history of piracy and presents the public with a far more palatable series of events that lead to its eradication. In truth, these periods in history were far more brutal. Historians recall when the
Dominion of Torment built the nearby military outpost of
Krothsbight and launched a small scale guerilla war against the pirate fleets that called Quillbrand home for centuries. The war lasted for years and saw a great deal of misery. Eventually, many pirates retreated to the southern isles. Some fled Ragnarok altogether.
Today, the shallower beds of the sea south of Ragnarok are littered with shipwrecks sunk at the hands of Torment's ruthless campaign.
