The Fayen Collective Organization in The Etherium | World Anvil

The Fayen Collective

Although physically separated by vast distances and living on different Spheres , Through the Aetheric currents of magic the Elves felt the kinship of their brethren. This connection spurred them on to develop channels of communication learning that their sibling races were much closer than expected. Great enclosed ships grown from Ironwood were made in order to travel between the local Spheres of their Node Doddaena . In time the Elves solidified into one kingdom, The Fayen Kingdom. Eventually as advancements were made in Aethership travel the Elves encountered their little cousins, the Gnomes. The Gnomes helped the elves improve their Aetherships so that they may travel far beyond their corner of the Confluence. Genasi & Firbolg soon joined the flock and so The Fayen Collective was formed with the Elves at the head. After the events of the 2nd Interspherical War Humans and Orcs were brought under the umbrella of FayCol rule.   The races of The Fayen Collective have developed a far more advanced study of the Arcane Arts which has influenced the growth and shape of their culture. The Collective also has a deep love for nature and the spirits of the elements. Druidic practices still to this day have a strong following, respected almost as deeply as the magical scholarly pursuits. Their grasp of magic has given them a monopoly on advanced spell theory. They jealously guard their hard earned knowledge, forbidding outsiders access to their advanced learning. Those found teaching or selling their secrets are punished with extreme prejudice.

History

  • Elves : As the longest lived of the known sentient races of the Etherium, elves have a long reaching but limited in scope culture. Change comes slowly for Elven culture but when it comes it is impactful. An elf may spend centuries on a single task or several giving them a great deal of opportunity for diversification or extreme specialization. Currently Elves hold a great deal of sway in the government, economy, military and culture in the Fayen Collective as they themselves were it's founding race. Many elves see themselves as a superior race among the Etherium’s denizens, and as such a great deal of racial tension exists as in the past they have oppressed the “lesser” races specifically those that lack magical talent. Order and Beauty are highly important to most elves and this reflects in almost every aspect of their lives and culture.

  • Gnomes : While not quite as long lived as their Elven cousins, Gnomes share many qualities with elves. They value Beauty and the Wonders of magic and have a deep connection to nature. Gnomes are deeply inquisitive always seeking either a new question or answer. They push the boundaries of magical theory and are responsible for many of its advancements. They see themselves as practical and full of potential and as such often find themselves aligned with the desires and ideals of their Elven cousins. Gnomes are currently the second most prominent race in the Fayen Collective.

  • Genasi : Embodiments of the core elements of the Spheres, Genasi are living manifestations of the Natural Forces. While Earth, Air, Fire & Water are the most prominent of the outwardly displaying traits Sand, Storm, Ash & Sleet can also be found. Genasi, like Elves, have a myriad of micro cultures each of which display their own separate idiosyncrasies. Their innate connection to whatever element(s) of nature they are born with, as well as a prelectivity for the druidic and arcane arts, lends Genasi an easy cohabitation with the other races of the Fayen Collective. Elves of Eladrin blood especially get along well with Genasi due to their potential similarities depending on whatever season they are currently displaying.

  • Firbolg : Although outwardly beast like in appearance, the grand majority of Firbolg Abhor Violence, preferring to tend and nurture whatever biodome of nature they call their home. Most commonly found in green places, the Firbolg love all that grows be it plant, beast or insect. Few Firbolg stray into arcane matters preferring to tap into the natural flow of spherical magics as druidic Shepard's of nature. The Firbolg tend to keep to themselves, content to appease the more “busy” races of the Fayen Collective. While less common, Firbolgs occasionally will take up a path of Devotion to one of the The Eleven Divine Concepts feeling the need to tend to the “Cosmic Garden” that is the Etherium.

Goliaths, Orcs & Humankind: After the Events of the Second Interspherical War the races that had composed the Iron Cohort, Goliaths, Humans & Orcs, were punished severely.

  • The Goliaths , intelligent but cruel were unwilling to surrender even when all possibility of victory had been lost, were all but culled from The Etherium as their last battles of attrition left their numbers almost entirely depleted. Very few bloodlines have survived and most choose to remain secluded from the rest of the Etherium, hiding in either fear or shame. It is believed that none currently reside in FeyCol territories.

  • The Orcs , fueled by fear and rage eventually surrendered and were forcefully divided up as prisoners and slaves in both the C.T.U & FeyCol. The Elves quickly saw that while of low intelligence, Orcs could in a strict environment bred into domestication and be trained. As such today Orcs can be found in three positions, members of the FeyCol Military, Manual Laborers & House Servants.

  • The Humans , ingenuitive and resourceful, quickly saw that they were in a loading war turned on their allies in the final days, surrendering themselves for punishment. They were given two choices, be returned to their home spheres, banned from ever traveling the Etherium again. Or enter into servitude in order to earn themselves a place among the Etherium. Humanity while oppressed found that they could flourish in any environment and a strong Human Subculture has sprung up under FeyCol rule.   The Elves have also encouraged interbreeding between Orcs and Humans in order make the savages easier to domesticate, and the mixing of Elves and Humans in a semi-successful attempt to encourage magic and grace in Humanity. These Half-Breeds have added a interesting dynamic to FayCol civilization.
