Humans Ethnicity in The Etherium | World Anvil

Humans

Originally from Bolla Humanity showed so much potential, that was until they joined the Iron Cohort. Now they are reduced to sub populations scattered across multiple Confluences.

Humans, ingenuity and resourceful, quickly saw that they were in a loosing war turned on their Iron Cohort allies in the final days, surrendering themselves for punishment. They were given two choices, be returned to their home sphere banned from ever traveling the Etherium again, or enter into servitude in order to earn themselves a place among the Etherium. The Vedalken and Dwarves saw how quickly humankind could adapt and that many of them were quick learners. So rather than waste the precious resource of talented minds, the C.T.U opted to educate their new charges rather than punish them. The Elves and Gnomes saw Humanity as children, needing a strong hand and fierce upbringing to curb their more destructive aspects. Like the parents they saw themselves as FayCol leadership decided to bring the fledgling race under their strict supervision with the hope that nurture could undo what nature had started. The majority of humanity chose to return to Bolla, content to live and let live, knowing that unlike the Orcs and Golitaths they had gotten off easy. However some few rebelled and went into hiding among the Free Spheres, hoping that the less strict among them would allow them to live their lives in peace, but not ignorance.

With their penchant for migration and conquest, humans are more physically diverse than other common races. There is no typical human. An individual can stand from 5 feet to a little over 6 feet tall and weigh from 125 to 250 pounds. Human skin shades range from nearly black to very pale, and hair colors from black to blond (curly, kinky, or straight males might sport facial hair that is sparse or thick. A lot of humans have a dash of nonhuman blood, revealing hints of elf, orc, or other lineages.

Three major Subsets of humans have bred strongly in the past 500 years, The Galvans, The Fayanite and The Freemen.
  • Galvans are predominantly found in the C.T.U and tend to be short, stout, and muscular. They usually have dusky skin, dark eyes, and thick black hair.
  • Fayanites mostly call the Fayen Collective home. They are usually tall, fair-skinned folk with blue or steely gray eyes. Most have raven-black hair, but those who inhabit the extreme northwest have blond, red, or light brown hair.
  • Freeman have carved themselves out places to call home among the Free Spheres and are only a handful of generations removed from their banished cousins on Bolla. Like them they are generally tall and muscular, with dark mahogany skin, curly black hair, and dark eyes.
