Structure

Lord Osim Inlyrian is the head of the lineage and the family lands. He resides in the old stone fort that his family has built up over the years. Also residing there is his first-born and heir, Ser Dyrad ne'Inlyrian, who is twenty-five and still not married. In 55 ET, the second-son, Byas Inlyrian-19yo, is serving in his final days as a squire outside of the Upper Sword Coast and is expected to be knighted prior to the Queen's Tournament.

History

The Inlyrian line has been in the Upper Sword Coast for longer than memories and stories go back. In fact, it was the INLYRIAN Sword-Lord that requested Rhone's intervention in the Upper Sword Coast. After nearly fifty years of spill-over raiding and violence from Aenar, the Upper Sword Coast was teetering and he had heard good things from his southern neighbors. Even without that, the disparate forces of the different Sword-Lords were not enough to stem the chaos raging in Aenar. The Queen formally titled the family in -146 BL. They were rewarded after the Aenari campaigns with more land near their own for siding with Rhone in her conquest of the Upper Sword Coast. Over the next century and a half, the INLYRIAN line was loyal and dutiful to the Throne.

During the Strife, the INLYRIANs attempted to remain neutral and refused to go on the offensive or join either side. They suffered raids and attacks by all types and sides. Little by little, their healthy lands suffered and they tired of rebuilding every couple seasons. As a consequence, they abandoned some of their lands which were hard to defend and experienced the most danger. Other parcels no longer have the infrastructure and population to make it productive as the charcoaled shells of old huts and buildings litter the area.

At the time of the Widow's Bargain, the Inlyrians had few friends due to their neutrality and suffered the consequences. They lost the lands annexed by their neighbors and no attemped pleading was able to change that decision. This has affected Lord Osim and his children as they all seem to suffer from that deep melancholy and anger at those who have wronged them. The disappointment of the Bargain was accompanied by a hammer blow when Lord Osim's wife died of illness in 46 ET. He became completely withdrawn from the outside world and spent the next five years in a deep, dark existence. This dark melancholy could be felt in the air over the Inlyrian lands and even now lingers a bit here and there. Luckily, around the approach of 52 ET, Lord Osim shook off his fugue-like state and immediately threw himself into restoring the family lands and ensuring their protection for the next wave of uncertainty that is always around the bend.
