Tale of Two Priestesses of Spark Myth in The Call of The Tree | World Anvil

Tale of Two Priestesses of Spark

Once, long time ago, two sisters woke up in darkness.
They were the children of Mage, the father of Elements and their was the realm of copper, steel, and rubber.
Their touch brought life to all but few machines and so their realm filled with light and sounds of buzzing and clanging.
There was one room that piqued their interest. A room with an altar made out of cold steel with an idol behind it. Said idol was an entanglement of cables, rods, and pipes that resembled a giant tree.
The sisters didn't know what it was, but they felt respect and happiness seeing the idol.
The two sisters spent their days playing and exploring. And at the end of each day, they returned to the idol to thank it for such a great time.
But soon, they discovered that their realm was limited by locked doors. Doors they couldn't open by touch. Not being able to find the solution, they returned to their games.
[...] One day, the two of them decided to create smaller versions of the tree. They collected pipes and fused them with the sparks coming from cut cables. Soon, their small trees were ready. [...] when they got closer, they could feel the small trees pulling towards each other. An electric arch formed between their branches.
[...] while playing around the border of their kingdom and swinging their trees, one of the sisters accidentally hit one of the locked doors. And how big was their surprise when the doors opened before them. Suddenly their realm wasn't so small. After telling the idol of the tree what happened, they went to check what was laying in the unknown land.
[...] One of the sisters was hanging above the abyss, one hand holding on to her sister while the other held the tree rod stuck on the wall beside her. She had to let it go, otherwise, her sister would soon lose her strength and she or both of them would fall into the darkness below. When the tree fell, there was no sound. But she was safe and right now her sister was hugging her, trying to calm her down. And although they never found the rod again, the two of them survived, but they didn't leave their realm as often anymore, staying near the tree where it was safer.

The finding of the myth

  • The myth about two sisters has been found on a single working computer in the ruins of a modern laboratory in the upper layers of The Pit.
  • Like most of the things in The Pit, it was probably left behind by one of the previous civilizations that lived here.
  • Parts of the myth are missing, mostly due to the corruption of the data and what can be seen here is the only part of the text that could be saved.
  • There was one single image file attached to the text. It contained a photo of a simple steel engraving presenting two humanoid characters holding two branched rods in front of the altar with a giant tree hanging above them.

Theories

  • The presence of the Mage, one of The Guardians of The Tree suggests that the two sisters were related to one of the Elements and it's not hard to guess it was the Electricity.
  • The "trees" the two sisters created bear a strong resemblance, both in appearance and properties, to the Magnetic staff that Father Albio possessed during his life. If it really is the one the sisters lost, then the staff has been lost for the second time the day Father Albio passed away.
  • The only known place that would slightly resemble the location described within the texts of the myth is The Layer of Factories. And yet an exact place like that has never been found there.

This was a really interesting myth, and it really piked my curiosity! It sounds like you've got a really intriguing world, and I also really enjoyed the inclusion of in world commentary and theories about the myth itself.
