Heavenly Crescent
Named for the shape of the land surrounding the Heavenly Sea, this region is believed, by many, to be the oldest in Tarien. Theologians and historians alike argue that the Tzecheni'korak and Kari-Zaro, who inhabit the region, can trace their cultures back to before the dawn of time and birth of the gods themselves. Their legends and ritualistic ties to Shar’iish’ta herself seem to clearly prove the point, despite avid disagreement from some dissenting scholars.
The region itself is one of sub-tropical forests and swamps, with the Kari-Zaro making their homes in the Thalloxon the western shore of the Heavenly Sea and the Tzecheni'korak doing the same in the Kash-pah to the east. Where the sea bends and the two jungles connect, at the Pontrien Delta, the two ancient civilizations often find themselves at odds and even war. Overlooking them all from their perch on the Arm of the Gods is the Peak of the World, Tarien's tallest mountain and the mythological birthplace of magic.
Beyond these lush jungles to the west, the region contains the starkly contrasting Carboth Desert. Encircled on three sides by various mountain ranges, this land of sand and rock holds a surprising diversity of life. Hidden amongst its caves and oasis's, and taking advantage of the pasture lands on its fringes are the Dharja. Fierce and independent, their people have begun to become less of a mystery as they migrate out of the sands to join the Human cultures around the Inner Seas.
