Vertul Republic
The Vertul republic is generally regarded as the secondmost powerful nation on Ochtotne Prime, and a rival of sorts to the Kingdom Of Anakrion. Anakrion is the more powerful one of the two, but has allies and connections to other factions in the region, evening the two out somewhat.
Structure
The Vertul Republic's government is accurate to its name; it is a republic lead by an elected group of five people, the Kurnathakos. It also has a rather usual parliament system, one called the Nuverion, with elected representatives that work parallel to the Kurnathakos, acting as both a foil and a companion.
Assets
The Vertul republic is the second largest nation on the planet, controlling about 26% of the population. It holds seven significant settlements in total, four orbital habitats and three cities. The population of these numbers a little short of 10 million. It maintains a sizeable military, and combined with a pseudo-alliance with a few other states and factions, such as New Suterr, is of similar strength to the Kingdom of Anakrion's armed forces.
History
Being one of the first nations on the planet, the history of the Vertul Republic is somewhat similar to that of the Kingdom Of Anakrion. Both were originally habitat-states that expanded onto the planet below in a similar manner, founding planetside settlements. The republic just did it a few centuries later, and only with a number of other settlements already in place.
Demography and Population
As with nearly all other states on the planet, the population of the nation is nearly exclusively Sapient Synthetics. Rounded up to one decimal point, the population is 99.7% synthetic. Out of the ten million people, about three thousand are Human.
Foreign Relations
The nation has varying relations with most states of the planet, though none are less than slightly strained. Most are fairly positive, and there exists an alliance of sorts with several states, both larger ones and habitat- and city-states. There is one exception; the Kingdom of Anakrion, naturally. The relations between the two have been hostile since the second invasion of New Suterr, where they came to direct blows in Suterr's Flatland. Some space battles have been fought between the two, though only a total of three ships have been lost, and engagements are rare with the Kingdom's superior space fleet, especially the two Indomitable-class heavy cruisers.
