Luna
The only natural satellite of the Earth, visited for the first time by humans in 1969, the first permanent establishments were established between 2026 and 2029. Today it is a major mining production center and an important military hub for the defense of the Earth in case of attack. Luna mainly accommodates military personnel, senior mining company executives who oversee Luna's automated mining operations and a small local population.
Demographics
The moon's population is concentrated in the dozen underground or protected by a dome cities of the planets, which are located next to the moon's two spaceports. The largest of these is Inerba who houses most of the military buildings and mining operations control centers on Luna's clear face. The population is entirely human, occupying mainly military or commercial functions.
Government
Unlike other planets or moons colonized by the Republic, Luna does not have a planetary government due to its small population. Indeed, its proximity to the Earth and its very small population have led to Luna being under the jurisdiction of the planetary government of the Earth. However, both cities on the planet have municipal governments, but the rest of Luna is under the jurisdiction of the Earth planetary government.
Defences
Luna does not have an orbital defense as such, as she relies on that of Earth and the Navy fleet which still maintains a presence in Earth orbit. However, Luna accommodates many important infrastructures for the defense of the Earth, in particular the Orbital Defense Control Center and the Advanced Detection Center which is responsible for detecting threats that could approach Earth.
Industry & Trade
Luna is a major mining center for all kinds of minerals and thus a major refining center to produce then send the raw materials elsewhere to be used locally. On the trade side, even if it was for a time an important commercial crossroads, the discovery of the Star Drive made it lose this status over the time and Luna primarly become a military center for Earth's orbital defense. Luna's trade today is primarily Earth-oriented, with Luna-orbiting spaceports sends most of the transformed materials from the Moon to be used on Earth, the rest are sent all over the Republic.
Infrastructure
Due to its lack of atmosphere, there is no train network unlike other planets or moons, instead planetary ferries are used which connect the different cities which are all equipped with landing bays designed for these ships. It also has one spaceport who is an important infrastructure for Luna, being located in the most populous city of Luna, which is Inerba. Mining and military infrastructures are also important infrastructures for the economy of Luna and the defense of the Earth. One stations is present in orbit of the planet to accommodate vessels not designed to land, although more ships can land than on other planets due to the low lunar gravity.
Architecture
The cities of Luna are like all the republican cities, they have a lot of vegetation, use a lot of glass and carbon fiber materials on mid-rise or high-rise buildings. Although efforts are often made to keep a reasonable scale, the central districts of republican cities are often made up of very tall buildings with extravagant shapes which can sometimes form several urban floors. However, the peripheral districts are more generally made up of medium-sized buildings and for the parts on the border, we see more low density with only a few floors. The particularity of Luna is that she have many cities under domes or partially underground which means that the possible height for buildings is limited unlike other planets or moons.
Geography
Luna's geography is marked by ancient asteroid impact craters and valleys that are located over its entire surface. Underground caves are also present under its surface due to the ancient volcanic activity of Luna during its formation.
Natural Resources
Luna is rich in mining resources such as gold, zinc or platinum and many other type of minerals that are used in a variety of industrial sectors. Unlike the majority of other Republic's colonized planets, the exploitation of raw materials is permitted due to the nature of the Moon which is a barren world with no ecosystem.
