Pine Ridge High School (ma-tsu-no-oh-neh koko)

Pine Ridge High School is the only high school in Okinami that is entirely funded by the Yamagiri Prefecture Education Department and accepts any student that applies. All other high schools charge tuition and have endowments, though they may also receive funds from the YPED. As such, it is also the only high school in Okinami that does not have an entrance exam.   High schools in Saharin include grades 10 - 12, as mandatory education is through 9th grade. The student body at Pine Ridge is typically around 150 students.   Students are divided into two tracks, Technical and University.   Technical students participate in apprenticeship programs, have classes designed to assist with small business development and ownership, and complete both a portfolio and the requirements for a basic high school diploma. *Most universities do not accept basic diplomas   University students have a curriculum designed to foster critical thinking and cover subjects aimed to ensure they have a solid foundation to begin a rigorous university program.
