Katsuki Park (kats-key)

Katsuki Park is a large public park in Okinami named for the Katsuki family, who donated the land. It is located to the east of downtown Okinami with many residential streets surrounding it.    The park has a small lake where swimming is permitted during the summer, when lifeguards are on duty. There are several athletic fields, including soccer and baseball pitches, which can be reserved for a fee or used first come-first serve if not reserved. There are playground areas suitable for various age-groups, including some special accommodations for disabled persons. There are many gardens and open green spaces as well as some pagodas and pavilions that can be reserved. Public toilets can be found in various locations.   One of the remarkable features of Katsuki Park is the Sakura Grove. Numerous species of Sakura have been planted such that blooming occurs in a cascade from one corner of the grove to the other.   Another remarkable feature is Katsuki Mansion, which was renovated as a free art gallery. Art across many media from flowers to paintings, sculpture to clothing, and even performance art is featured at Katsuki Mansion. Primarily, the artwork is Saharinese. Certain rooms feature a new local artist or collection every few months, while others may host exhibits from other galleries temporarily. Katsuki Mansion can be rented to host events that are free and open to the public at any time, but ticketed events can only be after 7:00, when it closes to the public. Art showcases and contests that allow the public to vote or donate to pick winners are common.
