Okinami Preparatory Academy

Okinami Preparatory Academy is a large senior high school (grades 10 - 12) in Okinami. Colloquially known as O-Prep. O-Prep is a private high school but does receive some public funding. O-Prep offers a strong, well-rounded program aimed to prepare students for university and any course of study they choose. O-Prep actively recruits students from outside Okinami as well as residents, providing opportunities for rural students to excel and ensuring a diverse student body.   O-Prep entry is determined by a multi-subject entrance exam and a personal essay stating the student's goals and background. The later is used to ensure the student is a driven individual and that hardships are taken into account. A limited number of scholarships are available to students from low income families who score well on the exam and impress the admissions board with their essay.   O-Prep students are divided by exam score into levels A - D. Each course level provides instruction appropriate to the student's ability. Students may request to move down a course level via written letter. Students requesting to move up a course level required administrative approval. Poor performance in exams may prompt moving a student to a lower level or counseling the student on departure from O-Prep.    O-Prep has limited dormitories. Room and board may be part of the scholarship for students recruited from outside Okinami or who would otherwise be more successful living on campus. One building houses male students and the other houses female students. Rooms may house two or four students with shared toilet and bath facilities. The cafeteria serves three meals per day. Students and staff may purchase a meal plan or pay for meals individually.   O-Prep offers many supplemental classes and extra curricular activities. Supplemental classes include a variety of subjects students must chose from to complete O-Prep's graduation requirements. Students may take extra classes if scheduling allows. Extra curricular activities include competitive sports teams, performing arts, and a variety of popular clubs.
