Roma Conclave of Inquisitors

"Under the Lex Imperialis, you are guilty of wasting the Emperor's resources and found wanting in faith! I sentence you to a fate worse than death, heretic!"
-High Inquisitor Julianus Cassis, sentencing the previous Lord Inquisitor of the Roma Conclave

Structure

At the top of the Roma Conclave sits the Lord Inquisitor, who monitors the activity of all those under him, and stepping in when an investigation may lead to cataclysmic events. He also is the final arbitrator of decisions made by the High Inquisitors, being able to cast the tiebreaker vote if it comes to it. The Lord Inquisitor is elevated to the position by being voted into place by the High Inquisitors.
Below the Lord Inquisitor are the eight High Inquisitors. These eight are voted on by other Inquisitors, to be their representatives in the Court of Roma. They decide the priorities of the Conclave, and oversee any charged leveled against other Inquisitors in the sector. It is a cutthroat business, but it keeps the factions of the Inquisition relatively happy.

Assets

The Conclave owns the Black Spire, along with a small naval force to protect it.

History

The Conclave was founded alongside the official founding of the sector, created to be a place for Inquisitors to coordinate efforts and hold trials for those within their ranks. The Black Spire was constructed deep in an asteroid field of a dying star, as a place to house any members of the Inquisition that may need to find refuge there.
Many trials have be arbitrated in front of the Conclave of Inquisitors, with the High Inquisitors making the final decision. The most recent and moving trial was the one of Segeric Gaut, who was sentenced to life in the Spire's prison.
