Inquisitor Lucien
"Man with the Iron Heart"
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Lucien is in top physical shape, as the dirty work as Inquisitor demands it. Several body parts have been replaced by artificial prosthetics, most prevalent in the arms and lungs. His damage to the lungs and chest area require the constant carrying of oxygen and a rebreather, when the lungs sometimes fail to keep up. The sanctioning during training on Terra has left the Inquisitor looking somewhat exhausted no matter his actual state, along with making him lose all hair across the body.
Body Features
- Bionic right arm
- Replacement eyes
- Artificial lungs, with oxygen required from a rebreather at points.
Facial Features
Lucien's face is covered with a myriad of scars and wounds, yet the basic structure has been left intact.
Special abilities
The Inquisitor is a powerful psyker, having awoken his powers during a mission on the world of Malum. These abilities have largely supplanted his old way of fighting, yet Lucien is still highly proficient in melee combat and seems to enjoy it far more.
Specialized Equipment
Lucien wields the power spear and bolter combination once held by the Inquisitor and heretic Segeric Gaut. It was a final parting gift before his apparent execution, but that very spear would end up taking Gaut's life.

Personal history
Born in the outskirts of Malum Primaris, the young Lucien had an uneventful early life. Helping the family with the lumber business and simply trudging through education led to few jobs later in life. He chose the option to join the Malum Enforcers, eventually marrying and having a single daughter. Life wasn't easy so to say, but Lucien and his family enjoyed it nevertheless.
Returning from a late night patrol, Lucien found his family missing with signs of struggle. Assembling a squad of friends within the Enforcers, their search began. The trail led them to a lodge far outside the reach of the capital city, surrounded by strung up, bloody corpses. The Enforcers broke into the lodge and slaughtered the cultist inhabitants without mercy, but they were too late. Lucien's family lay dead upon their brutal vivisection tables.
Stricken with guilt and despair, he would sell and give away all his material goods. They had no meaning anymore. No pictures, no letters, no reminder of the past. Lucien volunteered for the first available Imperial Guard tithe, and was given the rank of Sergeant for his extraordinary actions in destroying that cult. Lucien and the newly formed Malum 42nd were sent to their first and only warzone of Drelograd.
Upon distinguishing himself alongside his comrades in the Battle of the Crimson River, it was deemed that Lucien's squad would be used for more specialized work. He was sent to assassinate the rebel commander Remus Draco, which went off without major difficulties. This was instrumental in the outcome of the Battle of Legium which solidified him, Guardsman Zacharias, and Guardsman Jenkins as heroes of the Malum 42nd.
Their final mission as guardsmen would see them delving into the catacombs beneath Legium to investigate missing soldiers. There they would find crazed rebel fighters, but before being able to exit the catacombs - the Destruction of Drelograd began. Lucien and his squad mates would only escape due to the help of Inquisitor Segeric Gaut.
Lucien and the Malum 42nd from that point until Inquisitorhood were marked as completely destroyed. In exchange for saving his live, Inquisitor Gaut took the survivors as acolytes. Their missions led to them hunting down and killing the apparent leader of the Blood Cult and ex-Inquisitor Luther Malax, but things started to take a turn when Gaut asked them burn all evidence relating to said missions.
Upon being captured by Inquisitor Gale Herrion on the world of Ostrogotha, the wayward Lucien and group were offered forgiveness if they brought Gaut to justice before the High Inquisitors. Upon his capture, a death sentence was set, but the foul legions of Chaos broke Gaut out of the Black Spire and reignited the Blood War.
After searching across two worlds, Gaut called them to Drelograd in the slag-ruins of Legium. There they struck him down without a fight. Machinations high up in the Conclave of Inquisitors ensured that Lucien was given an Inquisitorial seal of his own, but only after returning from psychic sanctioning due to the awakening of his powers.
Today, Lucien is active in the Roma Sector, cleaning up the ruins of the Blood War.

Mental Trauma
Lucien is haunted by the death of his family, and allows that hatred and despair to control him. Along with that, he takes pleasure in causing suffering to those he views as enemies of the Imperium, or simply enemies to himself. Lucien will never be able to return to normal society, having seen too much to simply lie down and live.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Nobody can truly discern what keeps Lucien moving. He has nothing to fight for back home. He is not a zealot in the name of religion. The most likely motivation is to cause as much pain to the enemies of the Emperor as was caused to him all those years ago.
