Structure

Representatives for the Assembly are chosen in a myriad of different ways, depending on where they come from. Some are democratically elected, others come from a bloodline, or some applied for the job and got it.

The review period of a piece of legislation lasts 45 days, starting from when all representatives are present. Debates and hearings on the piece begin whenever one representative requests. After those 45 days, representatives cast their votes in yes, no, or abstain.

History

The Assembly of Councilors are the group of representatives from Roma worlds, corporations, and Thelmothian districts. They debate and vote upon legislation brought forth by other representatives and at times from corporate entities, or perhaps the Lord Sector themself. A majority vote by the representatives allows legislation to pass, but the Lord Sector has the ability to overturn anything they wish.

The Assembly has no true legal power over the Lord Sector, but they hold the influence required to keep them in check.
