Session 1
General Summary
Lady Fortuna and her companions travelled north out of The Barren Scrub, avoiding most
creatures and soon made it to Waymeet, saving a family of farmers from an Easterner patrol on the
way. At Waymeet they heard news that Prince Jake had been killed in the fighting with the
Easterners and had changed into a bear in the middle of the battle. The Easterners had retreated
some time ago and Eastward was no longer under siege. They also heard that Thistledelve was
now under seige from a host of orcs and that it was sorely pressed. They met Marik and discussed
their plans with him. They told him he they were going to the elves and he agreed to escort them
there. As they were leaving Waymeet they were met on the bridge by the Retriever -the huge
demon construct they had fought in Littlebrook. It blasted Lady Fortuna with it's eye ray but was
quickly put down by a valiant charge from the paladin and covering fire, both magical and
mundane from the elves. They saw the mark on the Retriever - it was made by none other than
Arrtenach - The Demon Prince's lieutenant! Marik told them it would take holy water or blessed
weapons to destroy it so Kai rushed to the church and brought a bucket of holy water. They
washed the demon construct in it until it was dissolved.
Four days later they were in Eldaran and at court.
At court the queen of the elves asked the party what they had been doing and what they intended
to do next. Arundel declared he wished to aid the group and they said they were pleased to have
his help. At court they found Prince Nolo Ironbrand. He was distressed to hear of Trabon's death
and told the party that Traubon was a distant cousin of his and was in fact dwarven royalty in
effect. The group reported that Traubon had died valiantly. When the group spoke about their
intention to visit the dwarves and then go to Dragon's Perch and maybe fight Ashardalon,
Caladon, Arundel's father and the elven court mage, told them that Ashardalon could not possibly
be alive still.
After court broke up Zandinell found Lady Fortuna and took her for a walk in the woods. He told
her he had some small skill in prophesy and last night he had a vision of her fighting a dragon on
the wing. He said he didn't believe that Ashardalon was dead.
Shilana and Flek spent a little time together, and she had a present for him. It was an amulet
whereby he could feel her and how she was feeling and she could do the same with him. At court,
the queen had mentioned that the only way the Sylvarran would be reborn would be for the only
surviving Sylvarran to have heirs. Flek decided to be rash and asked Shilana's parents for
permission to take her hand in marriage. They agreed, saying they were honoured. Flek proposed
and Shilana delightedly agreed.
The next day Flek and Shilana were married and spent a couple of days off in the woods alone.
Before they came back to Eldarran, Shilana told Flek that she had just fallen pregnant - it was an
elven trait to know when it had happened - and sure enough, Flek could now feel the new lifeforce inside Shilana through his amulet. The Sylvarran were to rise again!
Prince Ironbrand took the party through the tunnels below the earth straight from Eldarran to
Khazagrim, avoiding the hordes of orcs on the surface. They made great speed and soon found
themselves in the Dwarf Home once again. There they were invited to court and were received by
Dain Balzar. He asked them of their activities and their future and found out about their intentions
to enter the lair of Ashardalon in search of a dragon's heart. He told them that there was an
abandoned dwarven stronghold that lay below the bottom of Dragon's Perch. It had been
abandoned for over a millennium so they had no idea what might be in there now, but they were
told that a secret staircase led up to Ashardalon's lair from the back of the stronghold.
A dwarven patrol escorted our heroes from Khazagrim to Khazabard, which means House of Fire,
and left them at the gates. The sorcerer Arundel used his magic to open the locked doors and the
group were inside. Suddenly they were attacked by wave after wave of ogre guards. Lightning,
fire and magic were thrown everywhere as swords flashed and arrows whizzed. Within minutes all
was still and over two dozen ogres lay dead. Further exploration of the immediate area revealed a
row of prison cells were some dwarves were housed. These prisoners told of working a forge for
some fire giants, crafting weapons and armour. The party surmised that these items may be being
used to equip the hordes of The Demon Prince. They said the other dwarves were to be found in the
forge which lay across a huge bridge. The group followed their directions to a door and opened it
revealing a massive chasm some 50' below in which flowed a river of molten lava. Across the
chasm spanned a huge ten foot wide bridge and standing in the middle was a towering giant. A
staircase led down to a platform in the lava on which worked three dwarven smiths. The party
blasted the giant with magic and peppered him with arrows. He looked sorely injured and fled
back across the bridge away from the intruders, disappearing in the heat haze. The group rescued
the remaining dwarves and escorted them to the edge of the stronghold.
They returned to find two fire giants striding across the bridge. Electing to fight on safer ground
the party fled down the stair to the forge. The giants exchanged a few rocks for spells and arrows
but then charged across the bridge and down the stairs. Lady Fortuna summoned the Deva
Dendorandra and between the group they managed to fell the two giants. The group then discussed
what to do next...
