Old Salem
Old Salem occupies a roughly twenty block area within Millennium City and is said to be on the site of the original town, before it was destroyed in the 1600s. This area of the city is in stark contrast to many other districts in that it has a very 'old world' feel to it. The district is mainly residential and touts its 'haunted past' in a similar way to New Orleans.
Old Salem is a quaint area of the city. It's old-world feel gives off a sense of being in a forgotten time. It's peaceful during the day but, at night, sometimes has a sinister air. It is likely due to the number of ghost tours and 'witches emporiums' the area has. Of course, the Old Salem Witch Museum is definitely worth a visit. Petra Parca, City Runner
Demographics
A number of families that live in Old Salem can trace their lineage back generations. The most notable of these are the Sandersons. Other families move here because of its quaint feel and it's relatively quiet roads (which do not all follow the grifdlines of most of the rest of the city). The further into the district you go, the more it becomes a maze of crossing roads, intersections and cul-de-sacs. It's an easy area to get lost in.
Industry & Trade
Mainly hospitality and tourism, though it boasts some of the best restaurants in the city.
History
Old Salem was built not long after the main downtown area of Millennium City . The Sandersons were among the first to settle back in the newly constructed Salem.
Tourism
Ghost tours, the Witches Museum, Tours of the 'execution sites' and other such horror stories are why tourists come to Old Salem. Oh yes, and the food.
Architecture
Old-world style houses and multi-storey appartment blocks make up the majority of the area that is Old Salem. The outer edges of the district are ringed with multi-storey appartment buildings, giving teh district a semnblance of separation as these apartment blocks give way to more quaint and 'old-world' houses and grounds. Central to the district as a whole is the Sanderson Estate. Although relatively small, it is surrounded by an impressive wall and has a very 'Addam's Family vibe to it.
