Library of Dreams
The repository for every story ever written or told. An inter-dimensional space that is connected, but not tethered to, any realm of 'reality'. It exists outside of everything. It has an entrance in an old, abandoned asylum in Old Salem. A door that will open, if you have the key, or know how to enter without one.
It is staffed and maintained by many things, all beings of some story-or-other; from the little girl's pony, coloured in bright crayon, to the ground-breaking behemoth, a product of someone's nightmare and everything in-between.
Purpose / Function
The Library of Dreams is a sentient repository of stories. It collects, maintains and above all remembers the stories of all it collects. Remembering when even those who told the story are long gone and the story itself, forgotten.
Architecture
It can be anything it wants. It's archetecture is fluid and often based on teh story it is remembering.
History
Somewhere in that place between waking and dreaming, there lies a tiny mystical realm... a place where every story, spoken, written or dreamt is stored... the greatest of libraries that has ever been.
It floated through the space between realms, not tethered to one place, but linked to them all, if you only knew how to find it.
It was born from a spark of the first dream, and grows as it's shelves fill with more and more tales. With time it gained it's own sentience, and longed for interaction with the many beings that filled it's shelves with lore.
It learned to look out over the realms of reality and dreams, and listen to the stories as they were told.
Every tale can be found with it's many vast halls, and down every corridor are doors that allow one to step into those stories.
The library is tended to be creatures of myth, pulled straight from the many stories. They scury around the vast halls helping the library to keeps its knowledge in order, and tending to the few guests that the library welcomes through it's doors from time to time.
To find this place, one must normally have a key, a gift that the library can send to those it wishes. They can be used in the lock of any door, and when opened will allow a portal through to the library. The key nearly always dissolves after being used.
